Welcome to Oakengates Medical Practice, where your care matters
Booking appointments in advance
Following recent feedback from our patients, it has been brought to our attention that some patients are unaware of the ability to book appointments in advance.
We hope the following points help clear any confusion.
- Appointments can be booked up to 4 weeks in advance, subject to availability.
- On contact patients will be offered the next available appointment with a clinician – we cannot guarantee this will be the time or GP of your choice, although we do try to accommodate such requests, subject to GP and appointment availability.
- Appointments can be booked via the telephone, visiting the surgery or using our online service *’Patient Access’.
- Nurse practitioners offer same and next day appointments.
Please note our telephone lines are at their busiest between 08.30-10.00am. For routine appointments please telephone after these times.
* Subject to age restrictions and registration (contact surgery for further details or click on the ‘patient access’ icon below)

If you are unable to book a routine appointment and have a Medical Emergency for the same day, between 8.30am and 6pm, you will be offered either a telephone or face to face appointment with a Nurse Practitioner or the Duty Doctor. In the event that the Duty Doctor appointments are booked you may be invited by the Nurse Practitioner to sit and wait after surgery.
Please consider carefully whether you feel your medical problem requires same day attention
